Anomalous diffusion, stable processes, and generalized functions.
The evolution equations in real space and time corresponding to a class of anomalous diffusion processes are examined. As special cases, evolution equations corresponding to stable processes are derived using the theory of generalized functions, recovering some known results differently interpreted, and an evolution law for stable processes of order unity.
متن کاملPeriodic orbit theory of anomalous diffusion.
We introduce a novel technique to find the asymptotic time behaviour of deterministic systems exhibiting anomalous diffusion. The procedure is tested for various classes of simple but physically relevant 1–D maps and possible relevance of our findings for more complicated problems is briefly discussed. In the last few years the phenomenon of deterministic diffusion has been widely investigated:...
متن کاملGeneralized Langevin equations: Anomalous diffusion and probability distributions.
We study the motion of a particle governed by a generalized Langevin equation. We show that, when no fluctuation-dissipation relation holds, the long-time behavior of the particle may be from stationary to superdiffusive, along with subdiffusive and diffusive. When the random force is Gaussian, we derive the exact equations for the joint and marginal probability density functions for the positi...
متن کاملAnalyzing anomalous diffusion processes: the distribution of generalized diffusivities
We present applications of a new tool for analyzing data from normal or anomalous diffusion processes: the distribution of generalized diffusivities ( , ). It is defined as the probability density of finding in a time interval a naturally rescaled squared displacement, a generalized diffusivity, of size . If the parameter is chosen as the exponent of the asymptotic increase of the mean squared ...
متن کاملOperational quantities derived from the norm and generalized Fredholm theory
We introduce and study some operational quantities associated to a space ideal A. These quantities are used to define generalized semi-Fredholm operators associated to A, and the corresponding perturbation classes which extend the strictly singular and strictly cosingular operators, and we study the generalized Fredholm theory obtained in this way. Finally we present some examples and show that...
